Xeriscape
At its core, xeriscaping focuses on selecting native or drought-tolerant plants that require minimal watering once established. These plants are well-adapted to local climate conditions and soil types, reducing the need for irrigation significantly compared to traditional landscaping.
In addition to plant selection, xeriscaping incorporates efficient irrigation methods such as drip irrigation or soaker hoses that deliver water directly to the roots, minimizing evaporation and runoff. Mulching is another key element, as it helps retain moisture in the soil, suppresses weed growth, and moderates soil temperature.
